About this role

The group operates the infrastructure its solutions run on — payments, connectivity, logistics and public-sector platforms — in jurisdictions where a data centre is not a commodity. This role owns the reliability of that estate: the service level objectives, the incident response, and the engineering that removes the reasons to be paged.

What you will own

  • Own the service level objectives for the group platform, and defend the error budget in front of delivery teams when it is spent.
  • Lead incident response, run the review afterwards, and make sure the corrective action ships instead of being logged.
  • Build the automation that removes toil — provisioning, failover, certificate and secret rotation, capacity planning.
  • Design for the failure modes of the markets the group operates in: power, transit, and cross-border latency.
  • Hold the production access model, so that every privileged action is authenticated, authorised and recorded.

What you bring

  • You have run systems in production where an outage has consequences outside your own company.
  • You are fluent in Linux, containers and Kubernetes, and you can read a network or kernel trace without a dashboard.
  • You write code — Go, Python or equivalent — and treat infrastructure as software rather than as configuration.
  • You have carried a pager, and you have opinions formed by experience about what makes an alert worth waking someone for.
  • You work in English. French is an advantage in this location.

Five steps, and you know where you stand at each one

  1. ApplicationYou apply through this site. A person reads it — the first filter is not automated.
  2. ConversationA call with the hiring manager about the work itself: what you have run, and what the role actually needs.
  3. Work sampleA problem drawn from the real system, scoped to a reasonable session. It is discussed with you, never marked in silence.
  4. PanelYou meet the people you would work with, and someone from outside the team who is there to ask the awkward question.
  5. DecisionA yes or a no, with the reason. We tell you either way, and we tell you when to expect it.

What happens to your application

Your application is handled by the group recruitment team and the hiring team for the role you applied to. It is not sold, and it is not used to train anything. You may ask for it to be corrected or erased at any time by writing to the careers address.

Adjustments to the process

If any part of this process would put you at a disadvantage, write to the careers address and say what would work instead. The request goes to the recruitment team and is not shared with the hiring panel.
