Our pillars
Four pillars, each carrying commitments the group reports against annually.
- Climate and energyNetwork and data centre energy is the group’s largest environmental exposure. Group Operations measures consumption site by site.
- Digital inclusionThe group extends coverage beyond the commercially dense perimeter, on programmes agreed with the regulator and the local authorities.
- Skills and local employmentHuman Resources fills engineering roles locally, and a training obligation forms part of every deployment contract.
- Communities and landSites are negotiated with the host communities. The Legal Department writes access, reinstatement and maintenance into the works contract.
Commitments
Each commitment below is dated, measured by Group Operations and reported annually.
- Measure and publish energy consumption per site, rather than as a fleet average.
- Design every new site for hybrid or solar primary power.
- Extend coverage each year to communities outside the commercially viable perimeter.
- Fill engineering roles locally, and report the proportion filled in each market.
- Include a training obligation in every deployment contract.
- Report annually against every commitment on this page, whether or not it was met.
